The Five Man Electrical Band is from Ottawa, Ontario.

The band began in 1963 as  ” The Staccatos ” and had great

success in Canada, with 10 top ten hits and three albums until 1968.

As well in 1968 the Staccatos and the Guess Who recorded an album

entitled ” The Wild Party ”  ” The Staccatos ” on one side and the 

” The Guess Who ”  on the other side.

The album has become a sought after Collectors album by most

 Canadian Music Fans and Historians.

In 1969 the band changed their name to the  ” Five Man Electrical Band “.

and began a musical journey that would garner fans from across the world.

The group was quite successful when in 1971 the Band released the single   ” Signs “.

” Signs ” became an Anthem in the U.S. as the pressure on the the Nixon 

government to end the Vietnam war grew into overwhelming daily occurence.

Marches in the streets against the war. Civil unrest almost everywhere.

The  ” Hippy ” movement…  Then the song went worldwide and every

movement about anything government controlled or associated with

” Taking Down the Man ”  used it as their Anthem of choice.

The Five Man Electrical Band is still touring and offering a selection 

of Songs from both the Staccatos and the Five man Band in their shows.

Just a small note… the Five Man Band now has Six members.
