Lawrence Gowan is from Scarborough, Ontario.

At one time he was Lawrence Gown, then he was Larry Gowan, after a while he was just: Gowan.

At age nineteen, Larry, to family and friends won the ARCT award for the Royal Canadian Conservatory of Music at Toronto.

He is a classically trained Pianist.

For the next five years he was with the band Rhiengold, until the band broke up in 1976.

Larry then went out as a solo artist. Over the years he has released

Eleven albums, Five Platinum, Four Gold, and two with great sales.

As a solo act he was doing great, then he fronted for the Band Styx. at a Quebec City, and Montreal concert. Styx loved him.

Within a year Styx lead singer, Dennis DeYoung left the band.

The first person they called was Larry.

Why Larry agreed to join Styx when his solo carrier was booming,

I haven’t found any relevant reason, but the consensus is … Larry likes the idea of being in a band.

Larry is still a member of Styx as their Lead Singer and Keyboardist.

Styx has gone on record that the musical direction and the greater success that they have had is due to Gowan.

Larry has recorded Six albums with Styx and the band says they will

be releasing another album and a tour in the near future.
