I first heard this song in 1963 and I fell in love it.

It is a staple for me during the Holiday Season.

David Letterman on his second year of the NBC Late Night Show had Darlene on as a guest during the Christmas week. Darlene sang “Baby, Please Come Home” with no backup and just Paul and his small band of piano, bass. guitar and drums — Blew the audience and viewers away and collapsed the NBC telephone lines.

Darlene returned every Christmas for the next 28 years on both NBC and CBS when David moved networks until he retired.

Darlene’s magnificent beautiful voice is still strong and a joy to hear even to this day.

Darlene Wright is from Los Angeles and used her stage name of “Love” her whole career. She was probably the greatest of all the “Motown Singers” as she sang lead on many of the girl groups songs when they were starting out and until their voices matured.

Many of the girls were 14 to 18 years of age at that time.

Darlene was just blessed with a beautiful powerful voice.

“Baby, Please Come Home” is still my favourite holiday song.
