Gordon Lightfoot is from Orillia, Ontario. He began playing guitar at a young age just for personal pleasure and a sense of achievement.

Gord is referred to “As Canada’s Greatest songwriter” from all quarters of the music business.

His early songs were recorded by various U.S. and Canadian artists such as “Ribbon of Darkness”, “Steel Rail Blues”, “For Lovin Me” and “Early Morning Rain”.

All made it to the top ten of Billboards Music List.

He then recorded and released “Black Day in July” This song made Gordy an International Star. The song hit the top ten all over the western world.

All his albums have achieved Gold and Platinum status.

Robbie Robertson called Gordon Lightfoot a ‘National Treasure’ and Bob Dylan said he was ‘Gordy’s biggest Fan’.

Artists all over the world have covered a Gordon Lightfoot song.

To date, Gordy has released twenty-one albums, received sixteen Junos and five Grammys.  He has been inducted into “Canada’s Music Hall of Fame”, “Country Music Hall of Fame”, “Canada’s Songwriter’s Hall of Fame” as well as “The Songwriters Hall of Fame” in New York City.

He has been awarded “The Order of Canada”, “The Order of Ontario” and honoured with a statue in his home town of Orillia, along with many other music and civil awards he was honoured with his image on a Canadian stamp.
