Pete Townsend is from Chiswick, Middlesex, England.

Pete is a multi instrumentalist, lead guitar, singer and principal songwriter for The Who which he co- founded.

He wrote over 100 songs for The Who’s albums.

Pete also suffers from partial deafness and Tinnitus as a result from excessive loudness from the band’s concerts, but he adds that he feels the ailment began when drummer Keith Moon (now deceased) exploded his drum kit on stage (and that he Pete) was standing near the drums when they exploded. No one in the band knew that Keith was going to explode his drums. It caused some friction to say the least.

To date Pete has recorded seven Solo albums to add to his eleven WHO albums.
