Kim Carnes was born and raised in Los Angeles in 1945.

From any early age she knew that she wanted to be involved in the music industry.

Kim began her career writing songs for other artists in and around the Los Angeles area.

In 1969 she signed her first recording and publishing contract.

Writing for other artists for the next three years, she released a recording “Nobody Knows” written by Mike Settle.

Shortly after in 1972, Kim released her first album “Rest On Me”.

Her voice is described as ‘Distinctively Raspy and Throaty’.

Over her career Kim has released nineteen albums.

Kim lives quietly, writing songs, mostly for other artists, in

Nashville with her husband Dave Ellingson whom she married in 1967.
