Albert Allick Bowlly was a British vocalist and band singer in the late Twenties and Thirties.

Born in Portuguese, Mozambique in 1898 and raised at Johannesburg, South Africa, he began singing in local pubs to earn a living.

Over his career Al recorded over one thousand singles and was popular throughout the British Commonwealth.

His songs became soundtracks for many motion pictures and are among some of the most popular songs in musical history.

Al’s career was cut short when in 1941 when he was killed by a Luftwaffe Parachute Bomb that landed on his home during World War Two.

I have sent two of his songs for your listening pleasure.

I would suggest that if you can add an album or more to your collection.

The music is beautiful for late night wine and conversation.

Enjoy
