Kathryn Dawn Lange is from Consort, Alberta.
She grew up singing country songs around her home and learning to play guitar.
K.D. as she like to be called attended Red Deer College where she studied Music and Vocals and it was there that she took a great interest in the Music of “Patsy Cline”.
She began her career singing in and around Edmonton, then on to Calgary and Vancouver.
Her career took off after singing “The Rose of Alberta” at the closing ceremonies of the Calgary Olympics, bringing K.D. world attention.
Over her career she has amassed eight Juno Awards, four Grammys, one Brit Award and inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
She also sang “Surrender” on the closing credits of the “James Bond” film ” Tomorrow Never Dies”. K.D.’s rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” went world wide.
K.D. was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
