Jackie was from Detroit, Michigan and his singing career had an influence on numerous singers over the years.

He was a prominent figure, in the transition of Rhythm and Blues into what is now known as Soul Music.

He was considered a Master Showman and one of the most dynamic singer and performer in Pop, R&B and Rock and Roll which earned him the nickname of “Mr. Excitement”.

Many singers today start out emulating Jackie’s style of performance and covering many of his songs.

Jackie passed away in 1984.
