In the middle seventies, Annie Lennox, before The Eurhythmics was lead singer for the Tourists.

One of their biggest hits was a cover of Dusty Springfield’s “I Only Want to Be with You” released in 1963 where it went to number one and made number 12 on the Billboard 100 for Dusty Springfield.

Dusty had a Mezzo-Soprano voice and Annie Lennox was probably the only female voice (at the that time) to equal her power.

Dusty passed way in 1999 from Breast Cancer.

The Tourists’ version hit number four in the U.K.

The Tourists were together for four years and released five albums.

I’ll send you Dust’s version as well.

Enjoy
