Joseph Armand Roch Voisine is from Edmunston, New Brunswick.

Growing up Roch wanted to be a hockey player, but a serious leg injury and a long re-cooperation prevented him from continuing to play hockey at competition levels.

As he re-cooperated in hospital he took up guitar as part of his therapy. he was good at it and learned quickly and found that he had a musical ear.

Roch went back to school and began playing and singing at university and in and around Edmunston.

One night while playing a local pub, he was offered an opportunity to join a Showcase at La Ronde in Montreal.

His first night, Roch found himself playing before fifty thousand people as the Showcase was part of the admission. His career exploded as he sang in

French and English and the newspapers created a stir about this wonderful new talent.

To date Roch has recorded twenty-four albums in both French and English.

He has won two Juno Awards and four Felix Awards.

His French songs are so popular in France that the French Government awarded him their ‘Chevalier de O’rder des Arts et des Lettres’ and he is considered a Heart Throb among French women in particular.

As well he has expanded his career into Film and Television, acting in both French and English, and writing scores for some of the films.
