George Canyon is from Hopewell, Nova Scotia.

As a young boy he learned to play guitar and dreamed of being a ‘Country Music Star’.

After all the normal life passages of school, marriage and making a living as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer / Special Constable, George was just bored with his life and wanted to make a change. So, he bought a recording studio and became a record producer.

One afternoon he was reading an industry paper where he read of a talent competition in Nashville searching for new talent. He packed his bag and entered the completion finishing in second place.

The show was broadcast on Canadian Country Music Television and George became a household name in Canada and his music career took off.

George has one Juno Award and has been nominated thirty-four times. in various categories and has won ten of those awards as well he has twelve East Coast Awards.

George holds an appointment in the Canadian Forces as Colonel Commandant of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.

The Calgary Flames named him the Official Anthem Singer for their Games.

George has suffered with Diabetes from the age of fourteen and works with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation to help children understand that their illness should never stop them from following their dreams.
