Small Faces was formed in East London, England in 1965.
The band is considered to be one of “The Mod” groups as opposed to “The Rocker Groups”.
The band had an interesting life span as they stopped performing for a year, came back, made an album changed some members, changed their name, took a hiatus, came back recorded another album and took another hiatus and say constantly that they never broke up.
In 1965 Steve Marriott (guitar), Ronnie Lane (bass), Kenny Jones (drums) and Jim Winston (keyboards) formed Small Faces.
1966 Jim Winston left the band to become an actor. He was replaced by Ian McLagan.
1970 Steve Marriott left the group to form the band Humble Pie.
The three remaining members added Ronnie Wood (from The Rolling Stones) as lead guitar and Rod Stewart as lead singer from
The Jeff Beck Group. They changed their name to Faces.
They recorded an album and then went on hiatus.
This sort of went on until 1978 when they sort of said, “We’re done”.
Itchycoo Park is an interesting track.
