Tom Cochrane is from Lynn, Manitoba.

At any early age Tom was playing guitar and singing around his neighbourhood and school.

In 1978 he headed for Toronto where he met and joined Red Rider and became the lead singer for the band. 

Red Rider recorded six albums with Tom as lead singer before he left the group to become a solo act in 1988.

Since that time, he has recorded ten albums as a solo act and in 2010 re-united with Red Rider for a tour and has remained a constant presence with the band.

Tom has accumulated eight Junos. He has been inducted into the  Canadian Music Hall of Fame, became an Officer of the Order of Canada and given a Doctorate of Music from Brandon University.

As well, the Province of Manitoba, has given him the Order of Manitoba. and the City of Winnipeg gave him the Key to the City.

Tom has received numerous awards for his charitable work and has been instrumental in bringing ALS to the attention of all Canadians.
