The Troggs began their career as the Troglodytes at Andover, England. Formed in 1964 the band became the Troggs with the release of their first single. The band were originally called The Troglodytes (troglodyte meaning “cave dweller”).
The group is still touring, and can be found on the Casino and Small Venue circuit
From 1964 to 1976 the band had a series of hits including “Wild Thing”, “A Girl Like you” and of course “Love is all Around”.
Everyone knows these tunes but they tend to forget it was the Troggs that made them popular. Most of the songs by the Troggs have been covered by every conceivable band that you can name and always improving the songs with each outing.
“Love is all Around” has been covered the most and it became the theme song for various films about love and relationships. Most importantly (God help me) it became the theme song for “Love Actually“.
Please bare with me. This film has so many discrepancies and continuity problems that it borders on quantum improbability.
But with that said, everyone who see’s this film, just loves it. Please do not analyze the film, just watch it and you will be fine. You can watch the film on the movie network on demand.
I sent along a second version by “Wet Wet Wet” a Scottish band formed in 1982, just to show the improvements in the song and it is the version everyone hears in their heads when they think of the song.
Enjoy both versions.
