R.E.M. was formed in Athens, Georgia in 1980.

The group had modest success until 1990 when Alternative Rock began to experience mainstream success.

Bill Berry (drums), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass, vocals) and Michael Stipe (lead vocals).

On tour the band usually carried a number of studio musicians with them to help create a wonderful musical evening.

Over the years R.E.M. recorded 15 albums winning awards and citations from the music industry and civic organizations.

R.E.M. basically retired in 2011.
