Oscar Isaac is an Oscar and Golden Globe actor. Born in Guatemala his family moved to New York City. Growing up in Brooklyn, he grew up fast and tough. he channeled in energy into Guitar and eventually acting.
This is an interesting song. It was written by Oscar Isaac and Brian Doyle.
Oscar plays a musician who always had a crush on Kate Mara in High School. Kate was a shy loner and never took much notice of the happenings in the school. Basically, a book worm. Oscar paid attention but Kate never noticed.
Oscar and Brian wrote the song for Kate’s character but Kate did not know what the song was about or how it pertained to her character.
Her first understanding of the song was the first take of the scene.
If you watch the film, Kate’s reaction is pure response. The character realizes how long he has a feeling for her. The director knew it would be a surprise. Beautifully done.
There is only one clue to his love for her — The Yellow Shoes.
10 Years is a wonderful film with some great actors and a truthful look at some, not all, High School reunions.
As Kate Mara says, “I never did any of this is my school”.
It is such a pretty song.
Enjoy
