Gino Vannelli is from Montreal, Quebec.

His father, Russ, was a Big Band singer who encouraged all his children to sing and play a musical instrument.

Gino started off being a drummer, but continued to develop his singing voice. He studied music at McGill University where his  singing voice began to blossom.

He recorded a Demo Tape and then he and his brother Joe sat in a parking lot in Los Angeles waiting for trumpet player Herb Alpert, who was co-owner of A&M Records and literally cornered him and gave him the Demo.

Herb accepted the tape and kindly stated that he would listen to the tape.

Within a month Herb signed Gino to contract with A&M Records and Gino has never looked back.

To date Gino has recorded eighteen albums garnered one Grammy  and two Junos.

Gino tours about six months of the year and the other six he teaches music and produces records for other artists.
