James Newell Osterberg, known as Iggy Pop is from Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is a singer/songwriter, producer arranger and actor.

Iggy has been designated the “Godfather of Punk”.

He began by styling his music after such bands as The Sonics, MC5 and The Doors.

When he formed The Stooges, he began calling himself Iggy. It sort of went with his style of music and it sounded as if he came from the coal towns of England. British bands were big at that time.

In Europe he met David Bowie. A friendship was made and David gave him the name of Pop.

Needless to say, that drugs were not uncommon.

Iggy has many fans around the world and they love his music.

To date Iggy has recorded five albums with the Stooges and seventeen albums as a solo act.
