Shawn Hlookoof is from Castlegar, British Columbia.

Coming from a musical family Shawn began studying music at age four at the Royal Conservatory of Music of British Columbia. He learned piano and trombone under the guidance of  Rick Lyngard.

Shawn studied music at Selkirk College and released his first album under his given name of Hlookoff.

After graduating from Selkirk College, he began studying audio engineering at the Art Institute of Vancouver, where he released a second album under his given name Hlookoff.

His music was attracting attention in Canada when an ABC executive visiting Vancouver heard some of his songs and Signed him to a Contract with ABC Studios.

Within that same week Shawn was on ABC’s Good Morning America and his songs began to be featured on ABC programs like “Eli Stone, The Hills (constantly) and General Hospital.

Shawn’s name was shortened from Hlookoff to Hook and his career has been has been growing with each new record release.

To date he has released three albums under Hook and two under Hlookoff.

Shawn has said that he wants to give back because of his blessing’s and runs a charity with his girlfriend Kara Martin called ‘Live To Give’.

He has two Juno nominations.
