Formed in Toronto in 1952 and were active as a Top singing group until 1964. Rudi Mangeri (Lead & Baritone) John Perkins (Lead & Tenor) Ray Perkins (Bass) Pat Barrett (lead & Tenor)

They met when singing in the St. Michaels Choir school in Toronto. They had such chemistry they formed themselves as The Canadaires.

After singing around Toronto, they realized that they could make a living singing, quit their jobs and went out on the road.

When singing in and around the Niagara Falls area, they were invited to perform in New York on the Arthur Godfrey television and Radio show.

This performance led them back to Toronto to open for ” Gisele Mackenzie ” at the Casino Theatre.

While performing up in Sudbury, they received a call to come to Cleveland, Ohio to appear on the “Gene Carroll“ show.

That appearance introduced them to impresario Bill Randle who suggested that they change their name from The Canadaires to the Crew Cuts, as it sounded more modern and American.

They changed their name and the rest is history. Twenty-eight Top ten hits and a career that lasted twelve years.

The Crew Cuts are in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
