Guster was formed at Boston, Massachusetts in 1991.

The four members were studying at Tufts University and met at an orienteering outing and soon discovered that all four played various instruments. All four turned out to be accomplished musicians and they started a band to earn money for school and were not thinking of making music a career.

Ryan Miller (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass), Adam Gardner (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass, saxophone), Brian Rosenworcel (vocals, drums, bass, keyboards) and Luke Reynolds (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, saxophone).

The group will switch instruments in a concert depending on the song they are playing.

To date the group has recorded seven albums.
