Manfred Sepse Lubowitz is from South Africa, 

He moved to the U.K. and became part of the British music invasion.

His record producer suggested that he change his name and then 

offered “Manfred Mann” as a stage name.

The band has been around for over 40 years (with some lineup changes)

but their music evolves and changes with the times.
